Even the most casual glance at this montage will put to rest the conventional prejudice that landscapes of native plants are colorless and can be enjoyed only for their variety of textures and greens. These are the colors -- and the greens -- of the plants belonging to the successive communities that naturally dwell between the beach vegetation line and the middle of the maritime forest. With the exception of the few that need to be on the foredunes, and the few that cannot tolerate flooding, they will all thrive anywhere else on these islands with minimal assistance. |
